The Dangers Of Homosexuality

Homosexuality is one of the known sexual deviations; it involves sexual relationship between a man and his fellow man. In other words, it is rebellion against god’s intention for the use of sex and the sex organs.

God created man and gave him the woman to be his wife and sex partner, implying that lovemaking should be heterosexual – between man and a woman. But today, man is working in aberration to God’s laid down norm for the marriage institution by openly preaching what is against the word of the creator.

What is Homosexuality?

Homosexuality is the practice whereby a man is sexually attracted to his fellow man instead of a woman. Sex in this case is usually through the anus as against the vagina. This practice has brought about so much debate amongst Christians and pagans that the peace of some countries is now being threatened. Some countries have even given legal backings to gays to wed themselves, and others are thinking of following suit.

In biblical time this sin was known as ‘Sodomy’. We saw that it was one of the reasons God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19:5). And God commanded that any man involved in this sin should be put to death (Exodus 23:17; Lev. 20:13). But today man has acted in defiance to God’s position by enacting laws to give backings to homosexuality. Some churches which are supposed to be the custodian of God’s laws are also supporting this evil.

What Are The Consequences?

Homosexuality is not without consequences. Some of the problems associated with it include:

1. Sexually Transmitted Diseases: It is on record that the first HIV/AIDS case was discovered in 1981 amongst homosexual men in the United States of America and 29 years later, this disease still rages like wild fire spreading from country to country, sending people to their early graves and making so many children orphaned.
2. Separation from God: Anyone who works in open rebellion against God is spiritually separated from god because God is both Holy and Righteous, and cannot work with unholy and unrighteous people (1 Pet.1:15-16; Lev 19:2; Isaiah 59:1-2).
3. Guilt: The sin of homosexual practice also brings guilt feeling to those involved especially those who have been lured into it for financial or other reasons. So many young men are going through psychological, mental and emotional torture because of their involvement in this condemnable act and may live with this guilt for the rest of their lives.
4. Marital Instability: Many homosexuals find it very difficult to adjust in their marriages when they eventually get married to the opposite sex.
5. Behavioural change: Gays have also been known to suffer from some degree of behavioural change or defect. Some of them now assume feminine character, voice change, and change in gait.
